Young Forum Gastein: Call for Scholarship Applications – Young Health Professionals Building a Resilient Future for Europe

Applications possible until April 26th, 2021

Over the course of the last year, the COVID-19 pandemic has upended lives and radically altered the political landscape. While we continue to fight fires on numerous fronts, there is an opportunity for renewal and rebirth amidst the ashes of this unprecedented crisis. Health is having a rare moment in the political spotlight.

From 27 September to 1 October 2021, the European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG) will open its doors for online debates and conversations on how we can get back better and stronger. Under the main theme of this year’s conference “Rise like a phoenix – Health at the heart of a resilient future for Europe”, the EHFG will provide a digital platform for representatives of the public and private sector, civil society and science & academia to jointly discuss and find robust ways for Europe’s recovery from the pandemic.

The EHFG mission is to call for multisectoral engagement and building bridges across generations to connect with young professionals. Fifteen years ago, the EHFG initiated the Young Forum Gastein (YFG), a network of promising young health professionals, and today the network stands at over 500 members (Young Gasteiners). This year, the EHFG will once again offer scholarships to enable young health professionals from the WHO European Region to participate in the prestigious YFG programme.

Participation in the YFG network introduces young health professionals to the EHFG community and the European public health scene in general. It offers scholars a unique opportunity to actively contribute to the annual EHFG conference as authors of session reports or blog posts, moderators or rapporteurs and get involved in discussions on the current challenges and developments in health in Europe and beyond. Besides taking part in the main conference programme, Young Gasteiners are offered a tailor-made YFG programme including skills-building and thematic workshops as well as networking possibilities with fellow scholars.

In 2021, the YFG will apply an interactive and engaging digital format, beginning with a kick-off evening event in early September and continuing throughout the EHFG 2021 conference week from September 27 to October 1. Additional activities and opportunities will be offered throughout the year; Young Gasteiners are invited to contribute as authors in renowned health journals and speakers in numerous webinars. The members of the network are welcome to join exclusive YFG activities over the year.

Detailed information on the scholarship and selection criteria can be found in this document as well as on the EHFG website. Questions and inquiries about the call can be sent to yfg@ehfg.org. The EHFG is looking forward to welcoming applications from young professionals by 26 April 2021, 23:59 CET.
