1st April to 11th June 2027, Nagasaki (Kyushu), Japan.
Tropical and infectious diseases continue to affect millions worldwide, especially in resource-limited regions. Standard medical training rarely provides the depth needed to face these challenges. That’s where the Professional Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H) at Nagasaki University comes in.
This program is more than an academic qualification, it’s a gateway to practicing medicine in challenging environments and a chance to contribute meaningfully to global health.
Course Highlights
The diploma is an 11-week intensive program, taught in English, and approved by the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH). Graduates become eligible for international exams such as CTropMed® and the UK DTM&H exam, which opens global career opportunities.
The curriculum covers everything from malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS to neglected tropical diseases, maternal health, and epidemiology. Learning isn’t confined to lecture halls, students work in laboratories, participate in clinical case discussions, and complete a two-week field training in the Philippines, gaining real-world exposure to tropical medicine.
Who Should Apply?
The course is designed for medical doctors with at least two years of clinical experience. Strong English skills are required, but not always formal test scores. Applications are accepted worldwide, with special support for doctors from low- and middle-income countries.
The application period runs from September to October, and early submission is highly recommended as spots are limited. If accepted, you’ll join an international network of doctors and global health experts in Nagasaki and beyond.
