A very special edition of our annual conference is approaching – this year, we are meeting for the 20th (!) time in beautiful Gastein Valley, to discuss EU health policy and exchange viewpoints and experiences across national borders and stakeholder groups.

If you fancy a sneak preview of what we have on offer for you, have a look at our freshly published first program announcement. High level speakers include Pamela Rendi-Wagner, Minister of Health and Women’s Affairs, Austria, Alois Stöger, Minister of Social Affairs, Austria, Xavier Prats Monné, Director General, DG SANTE, European Commission, and Zsuzsanna Jakab, Regional Director, WHO Europe.

The conference, entitled “Health in All Politics–a better future for Europe”, will follow four thematic tracks, namely Health in All Policies, Health systems, Access to medicines and Innovation, Big Data & ICT.

Our goal this year? Taking Health in All Policies to a new level: While efforts to foster inter-sectoral cooperation on health have been successful at times, real challenges remain. The discussions at the 20th EHFG will aim to dig deeper, taking the technocratic concept of HiAP to the political level of policy implementation – Health in All Politics. Against a background of increasing populism and a post-truth era across Europe and beyond, the challenge to us is to build bridges between the different policy areas, guided by the European values of universality, access to good quality care, equity and solidarity. EHFG 2017 plenary sessions will thus look at the politics of health in the EU and its member states, considering the past, sounding out the present, and testing the future. From the historian’s perspective to today’s decision-makers and tomorrow’s thinkers – join us in debating the EU from a health perspective.

Registration is already open, with early bird fees available until the 14th of July!
