The 3d HLCA Summer School on Health Literacy

17th to 21st September 2018, Bielefeld, GermanyThe Summer School addresses students from e.g. public health, health communication, education, sociology, psychology, as well as PhD candidates working on health-related research questions.

The 3rd HLCA Summer School on Health Literacy will provide both a general and a specific overview on theoretical and practical evidence regarding health literacy. Participants will be introduced into:
1. health literacy research in general with a focus on:

  • conceptual and methodological considerations;
  • the use of measurement methods and data analysis;
  • intervention studies:
    a) mental health literacy;
    b) e-health and digital health literacy;
    c) general health literacy;
  • health literacy policy-making and social issues;
  • advocacy for health literacy and health literacy champions, including skill development;
  • health literate organisation, settings and health literacy friendly approaches;

2. methods and ethics of childhood research and research with children;

3. health literacy research with children.
