Europe That Protects: Safeguarding Our Planet, Safeguarding Our Health

7. Oktober 2019 at 09:33

3rd to 4th December 2019, Helsinki, Finland. Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL)

The conference focuses on how the environment and climate change affect human health and how human behaviour affects the health of the Earth. Decisions and actions are needed now: global warming and biodiversity loss are proceeding faster than anticipated a decade ago.

Solutions need to be found to prevent or at least restrain climate change, air pollution and the harms caused by chemicals to people and nature. Food production, responsible use of forests, sustainable urban planning and health benefits of nature are essential themes in this work.

The main aim of the conference is two-fold: To identify and discuss the main scientific challenges for harvesting and enhancing the benefits of a sound environment for human health, and the scientific challenges for solutions to overcome environmental threats to human health.

The main outcome will be recommendations on priorities and ways how the EU and Member States can work together to protect human health and the planet we are living on.
