Desert Medicine Course – Master the Art of Medicine in the Sands of Oman

7th to 12th December 2025, Sharqiya Sands, Oman

The remote majesty and wilderness of the world’s deserts demand a special kind of medicine. This challenging yet highly rewarding six-day course gives healthcare professionals the skills and confidence to handle emergencies in one of the planet’s most extreme environments. Over six unforgettable days, you’ll learn how to survive in the sand, protect your team’s health, and master the essential medical and logistical skills required for successful expeditions and adventures in the world’s driest places.

From heat illness and dehydration to trauma care, snake and scorpion bites, navigation, and evacuation planning every aspect is covered with expert guidance and realistic training scenarios.

Is This Course Right for You?

The Desert Medicine Course is designed for doctors, nurses, paramedics, and medical students who want to take their skills far beyond the walls of a clinic or hospital. If you’ve already completed the Expedition & Wilderness Medicine Course, this is the next step — building on your knowledge and applying it to one of the most unforgiving environments on Earth.

To get the most out of the experience, you’ll need good navigation skills, a solid level of fitness, and some basic understanding of expedition planning. The course isn’t just about medicine — it’s about thriving in the desert while keeping your team safe, healthy, and mission-ready.

What to Expect

Your adventure includes expert tutoring, accommodation, meals, safety and camping equipment everything you need to focus on learning and survival. What’s not included are your travel costs, insurance, and personal gear, as these are unique to each participant.

By the end of the week, you’ll have earned 30 CPD hours accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, as well as the confidence to handle real-life emergencies in some of the world’s harshest conditions.

Why This Course Stands Out

The Sharqiya Sands of Oman, with their towering dunes, stunning sunsets, and star-filled skies, provide the perfect training ground. Instead of sitting in a classroom, you’ll learn through practical simulations: managing medical crises in the heat, coordinating rescues, navigating vast landscapes, and keeping your team alive when the desert itself seems against you.

This is education blended with adventure, where every skill you learn is tested by the environment itself.

Ready for the Challenge?

The Desert Medicine Course is more than a training program — it’s a chance to test your limits, gain life-saving skills, and experience the beauty and extremes of the Sharqiya Sands. If you’re ready to take your medical expertise into the wild and come back with both confidence and unforgettable memories, this course is for you.
