Course Content
Through the use of basic ideas, concepts and analytical approaches from political science, this module will review how HIV/AIDS policies and other health policies are developed and implemented. Content: Political approaches and ideologies in health care and public health; Stakeholders in the health policy process, Target groups and priority setting; Social inequity in health and access to health care; Management tools; Health communication.

Learning objectives, training objectives
Identify the organisations and actors involved in the formulation and the implementation of health policy; Demonstrate understanding of the core theories behind health communication; Know how to use several planning tools (e.g. SWOT analysis, LFA)

Target Audience
Doctors, economists, midwives, nurses, psychologists, public health specialists, political scientists and social scientists. Persons with other related educational backgrounds are also invited to submit an application.

Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant field (e.g. health sciences, social sciences, etc.) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized higher education institution; At least two years of relevant work experience; Proof of English proficiency; Basic IT/computer Skills
