In this 2-week intensive course students will be introduced to working in the laboratory (laboratory designs, safety, regulations), have demonstration of basic diagnostic techniques of viral, bacterial, parasitic and fungal infections, and get hands on experience with common diagnostic techniques. Content: Laboratory rules and regulations;Sample collection techniques;Storage and shipping;Microscopy and culture; ELISA, Western Blot, RIBA; Resistance testing (viruses, bacteria).

Discuss constraints of various laboratory techniques; Discuss the benefits and limitations of diagnostic procedures for HIV and HIV-related infections/diseases; Use correct sampling techniques for common co-infections; Laboratory research.

Pubblico target
Doctors, economists, midwives, nurses, psychologists, public health specialists, political scientists and social scientists. Persons with other related educational backgrounds are also invited to submit an application.

Prerequisiti
A Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant field (e.g. health sciences, social sciences, etc.) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized higher education institution; At least two years of relevant work experience; Proof of English proficiency; Basic IT/computer Skills
