The postgraduate distance learning courses in Medical Physics at Heidelberg University are the result of a long-term collaboration between the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), the Heidelberg University Hospital and the new state-of-the-art heavy ion facility Heidelberg Ion-Beam Therapy Center (HIT).

The focus of these English speaking programs is on new physical and technical developments in radiation therapy such as Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT), and Heavy Ion Therapy. Furthermore, starting winter term 2014/15 a new Medical Physics Basics course, the M0, is on more.

We are pleased to announce the call for abstracts for Public Health Science: A National Conference Dedicated to New Research in UK Public Health.

The core of the event will comprise of oral and poster presentations of selected research. Peer-reviewed abstracts of shortlisted papers will be published by The Lancet, online and in more.

Public Health Film Festival

27th to 29th June 2014, Oxford, United Kingdom

Oxford will host the UK’s first Public Health Film Festival from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th June at the Phoenix Cinema on Walton Street and will include a variety of feature films, short films, workshops, panel discussions and events.

The festival also launches a new film-makers prize for the best submitted short film with a focus on public health. The festival and prize is being supported by TORCH | The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities, and the Nuffield Department of Population Health at the University of more.

Communication tips by Medics on the Move

Medics on the Move (MoM) is a language learning programme of Communication for Professionals, specially developed for professionals and pre-professionals using a second or foreign language in a medical context.

MoM aims to provide medical professionals and pre-professionals working abroad or in a language-discordant context with language tools and support to help them function effectively in their new workplace. The e-learning platforms guide their users in a medical context by means of written and spoken conversation scenarios, a database of medical terminology, grammar tips and a manual on medical and intercultural communication.

World Health Statistics 2014

World Health Statistics 2014 contains WHO’s annual compilation of health-related data for its 194 Member States, and includes a summary of the progress made towards achieving the health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and associated targets.
